Everyone get ready, a new contest starts soon!

Yes, it will be held by me, and everyone is welcome to enter (even without registration with ChronicLogic). This time, there will be winners in 2 categories - clean and dirty bridges, and there will be special awards for the nicest-looking bridge, etc. :o .

The URL is http://www.bridgebuilder-game.com/contests.php" target="_blank">http://www.bridgebuilder-game.com/contests.php (there's already a collection of all the winning bridges from past contests available there, so it's worth checking out even now (plug mode off) )

General Discussion / Contest 3 Epilogue
April 12, 2002, 03:09:55 AM
That's one really fine bridge you managed to build there, *this* is creativity http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> I guess that by making the level so shallow (to prevent us from building 'semi-submerged' bridges), CL allowed even more weird stuff to happen...

I promised a contest, so expect one soon - I'm trying to think of an interesting level for it... And good prizes...  http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Congrats to all the winners, good job guys!

General Discussion / Third Contest!

OK, you've probably read the announcement already, so for those who overlooked it: Read it http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

@ChronicLogic:
I think the next contest should be a bit different (special rules/prizes or something)...

On a side note, now that it starts so soon, it occured to me that I could lose my shiny new title before I even get used to it ;) So, like I suggested, pleeeeeze let me keep it for all my Eternal Life  and let Calis have his for all eternity, too.... Man this is so funny.... Eternal Maximissimuses :o

General Discussion / Poll results
November 19, 2001, 10:54:16 PM
Here are the results of a poll that ended last week
(from my site, http://www.bridgebuilder-game.com" target="_blank">http://www.bridgebuilder-game.com ):

Allow posting of scores/designs for an ongoing Pontifex contest?

Yes  35.1%
What`s Pontifex?  16.3%
Yes, in a separate forum  13.5%
No  13.5%
Don`t care  12.4%
Contest?  9.2%

Number of votes: 251

The numbers speak for themselves...  Almost half of the voters want it to be allowed, at least in a separate forum. CL, are you reading this? http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

BTW, the new poll is 'What structures do you end up building? (In both BB and Pfx!)', go vote now!

General Discussion / Contest ended

I hope a LOT of people didn't submit a bridge at all.  108 people who bought the game only totals a little over 2000 american dollars.  Nothing to scoff at, but I hope for Chronic Logic's sake that enough people purchased the game to fuel their ability to make more software/money.

Maybe putting a map-pack up for sale, or sending the demo to schools to spark interest.   Schools are often looking for a cheap alternative to expensive software that is already on the market, and having it be a game too is just icing on the cake (chocolate cake).

I will support CL with whatever they do, even if their next game is "Corporate Soda Bottle Constructor".  http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

General Discussion / Map Pack 1
October 13, 2001, 04:11:03 PM
Finished it after about 2 hours of playing... Definitely harder than the original 32 levels... I'd even say it requires some hardcore tactics ;)
What I didn't like is that those huge levels (15, 16) make the game really slow on my system (Celeron 566@850, 192 RAM, Voodoo3 3000)... This way, Pontifex is about as CPU/hardware-intensive as some modern FPS games... I understand this most probably can't be helped, but the huge jump from the BB system requirements to those of Pfx is really ...umm... HUGE? ;)
