Otherwise Im joining the Guild!

Units / Re: Top 20 of balanced units

I've said this before, but I'll say it again.  It's very crucial that Zatikon has units worth more/less then their pricetag suggests.  This helps seperate good players from bad.  If all units were balanced and everything was worth it down to the single dollar, then it wouldn't be as much fun playing Zatikon.  More so, it's crucial that games come out with bad units.  Here is Mark Rosewater, one of the creators of MTG explaining this:
http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtgcom/daily/mr5

Ive read those articles before and I never bought them.  I think its a convenient excuse for the power difference in cards.  When the real answer should be, 'We are only human and after making 10,000+ cards there will always be cards that fall short or are somewhat overpowered.'
Ive played Magic from day 1 Alpha and the better players win.  There are too many variables for a newer player to know and an experienced player will overcome.

If somehow every piece was about equal to its stand alone value in Zaiton, that would be great, but almost impossible to achieve.  A pieces value will always fluctuate with new pieces being introduced.

I still think the new version of Armistice is too good.

I would prefer it lasted until the END of your next turn so there was actually a turn that you could not attack the enemy as well.

Or you had to use it at the beginning of your own turn...must be FIRST action.  That way you can use it to manuever for one turn while you cant attack and then be immune for one enemy turn.

Hydra - Sergeant

I'm not 100%, but it seems like when I have the Hydra under the Sergeant's rally ability there is a problem.

Normally I can move 2, attack howmany ever times, and then pop off a bunch of snakes all for free.  But if you are ZERO team actions remaining you can move the Hydra but not attack or make snakes.  Seems like the program is not checking for free attacks and skills once your out of team actions.

Edit:  Another odd thing is that i can use Rally on the Hydra (maybe it works on anything)  and then have an Artificer turn it Inorganic.  The green line snaps off but it retains 'Free Actions'

Units / Dragon: Worst of the 550?
May 29, 2009, 10:41:39 AM
My play experience has mainly been coop.  I find that every 550 piece in coop has cool and nasty combo's and strategies that can win in high level coop....except the Dragon.

Is there any way to improve the Dragon that would help in Coop that wouldn't break it for Constructed/Random?
I hate to see one of the premiere fantasy creatures of all time get so underused.

Some ideas
- Soaring:  Move anywhere within 5, takes all actions.
- Fearsome Roar:  Stun all within 2.  Once per game.
- Treasure Hoarder:  Gain 2 team actions per kill Dragon makes.
- Magic Resistance:  Cancel the first enemy spell cast at Dragon each turn.

Or for a really whacky idea.  Whenever you place a dragon you get a random colored Dragon!
Blue can shoot line 6 Lighting Bolts
Red could have the current Fireball
White could stun on attack (frost)
Green could get Acid Blast which acts as poison and Axeman like armor reduction combined
etc

Zatikon Discussion / Re: Improving Zatikon

I think Coop is more popular than solo because once your AI level is high enough from playing Coop you hardly can go back to solo.

I think the game should seperate your solo and coop levels at lvl 50 (or some number)

Zatikon Discussion / Re: Improve the chat window?
May 19, 2009, 04:30:39 AM
I notice that the main chat window doesnt show the level AI coop games are going up against?

Any reason for that?  I like seeing what people are doing or high they are playing against.

I am still confused about Murderers.  If you place a Confessor on the board, can it attack all the 'murderer' from the beginning of the game or just ones that happen after its on the board?

Zatikon Discussion / Re: Playing first

I agree that perhaps less commands for the first player makes sense.

Also I was wondering about Coop.  I have played at least 50 Coop games with my friend Goatofdoom.  I always go first.  Is this because I am higher rated than him?

Zatikon Discussion / Ping the map in Coop idea
May 13, 2009, 06:07:22 AM
While I really dont expect something like this to be implemented, it would be cool if you could ping the map or maybe even make Etch-a-Stetch like lines on the map to indicate to your teammate something you'd like him to do or be aware of.

Can a Heretic not function if its stunned please?

Thats the only think I can think of help counter it.

Every team should not have to Inorganics to get by.

A team with Feathered Serpent and Heretics means a stream of death coming your way.

Or even a team with Heretics and an Acolyte to raise its life means big trouble to teams that actually hit people.

Zatikon Discussion / Surrender: Are you sure?!
May 11, 2009, 11:56:24 PM
Im sure we have all done it.  But at least 4 times now Ive gone down to hit the End Turn button and BAM!, I miss my a little bit and surrender the match.

And chance the Surrender button can either be moved away from the end turn button or maybe a Are you sure? button pops up to verify?

Ive heard some players dont like to have to constantly click on and read special powers for the AI pieces.  At high lvls since everyone is special you have to constantly read them all.

What if you made little symbols that represented the powers, and put those symbols in the top left or right corner of the piece.

Then after learning the symbols you could easily identify powers without all the extra clicking.

(For example, Clockwork might look like a little hourglass or maybe a sundial symbol)

Diabolist is one of my current favorites.  Not because it is really good but I like its effects.
Hard to use though.
