Title: Adding costume 3d objects!
Post by: Relys on February 22, 2006, 11:06:58 PM
Please release the 3d modeling editor for BCS! It said in the demo you could import custom 3d models and when I bought the full version I was very disappointed there was not one included.

Thank you,
Relys

P.S. I read a little about this on the Forum and I don't care if the first version is a little difficult!

check out the bridgebuilder-game forum, I know some people were working on this:

http://forum.bridgebuilder-game.com/

I think the program we used to export 3d objects only accepted lightwave files, so it would only be useful if you used lightwave as your 3d program.  I will take a look for you though.

I could use MilkShape or something to export it to lightwave format!

Please highly consider releasing it! Lot's of people would be very grateful!

Thank you!

P.S. The project on the forum was only going to allow you to export .txt (like 1s and 0s which stand for points) to .pfo (I would go insane trying to do that). The exporter you have would be extremely more helpful!

That was me. But I just stopped working on it. Maybe I'll start working on another converter; now that I have more programming experience it seems pretty easy. But the lightwave exporter might still be more useful for you, of course.

You can try using this:

http://www.chroniclogic.com/pontifex2/lwo2pfo.zip

lwo2pfo.exe should allow you to convert lwo (lightwave) files into pfo (pontifex objects) files.  Just open the .lwo files and then select export and save the new file as a .pfo.  This will allow you to put custom 3d objects in levels.  I am not sure how the lightwave file needs to be setup, so you will have to just try it.  There are a couple of working files included.  The objectview will let you look at a pfo file.  It looks for  .pfo files in the pfo folder.  You also need to have a texture with the same name as the object in .tga format.  If you get it to work please post the lightwave file requirements.

I can make files with MilkShape($20) gmax(Free) or Blender (Free)! Thank you very much it is very easy to use and works great.

Edit: Works fine in game! This has nothing to do with the exporter but how do I make multiple textures (Like a tree. The trunk is brown and the levees are green?)

Thank you!

Relys

P.S. If you get it to work please post the LightWave file requirements What do you mean? It worked fine in MilkShapes LightWave 6.5x LWO exporter... But not the older one.

Make one texture containing both the trunk and the leaves.

Yes but how do I assign the textures to the right places?

You will have to set up UV coordinates in the lwo file that match the tga file.
