Next Version Ideas / rewriting of the Mouse Control

Running on a 500mhz Athlon, it seems fine to me. my only speed-related issue is that when building those massive bridges, it runs a little on the chunky side.

Sure its' not a driver issue?

Problems / no anchor points?
October 19, 2001, 03:42:47 AM
yes. there are anchors, but they're not in-line with the normal bridge. You have to make sure you're in complex edit more, and use F and R to move forward/backwards into the scene. You'll see them when you get on the same plane

Problems / No structures from beside the Bridge
October 14, 2001, 11:19:58 PM
my solution to that level was pretty unorthadox.. after trying the cable-stayed way you're doing several times, I ended up just ignoring all 3 mid-span supports.

Instead, I built a huge steel arch bridge, with 3 layers : an arched roadway on the bottom (arched up about 2 or 3 span-lengths), then two light steel layers, all interlinked with triangles.

0 broken links on hard.. expensive, but came in about 4,000 below budget.

Records and Hints / official Map pack1 level 6

I've got the same problem. Tried cables, solid bridges, etc. Most of my attempts break under their own weight, but even my strongest still fails when the train rolls over on highest difficulty (what I play on).

Anyone with a working scheme around here?

Here's my bridge 9, it's pretty unorthadox: I ignored all three center anchor points after all my cable-stayed attempts failed. I ended up with a nice triple-layer arched bridge..

I'd post an image if I could figure out how on this BBS software.

General Discussion / Building Golden Gate style Bridges

Hmm. I've been able to do exactly that with cable.. not sure why you'd need to build the shape out of steel first, as you can do the exact same thing with cable.
