I have a solution with 244 broken links (232 on its own) on hard setting. I don't use the submerged foundations, though... :)

I have done it. HARD with no broken links. Current cost 123217. I should be able to cut some cost. I did use the underwater points. It is a hanging bridge with lots of cables. It looks COOL.

The funny thing is, if I run the train before the bridge settles, I get one broken link. :cheesy:

Thats actually a pretty common syndrome. Have you heard people talking about tt'ing things? Thats what we call it when you test a bridge by clicking on the test, and then run train buttons quickly. A bridge that is tt'able survives this test w/out any broken links. Many people consider a bridge that breaks links this way to still be dirty.

I don't agree with those that think that a bridge has to "TT" to be clean.  Suspension bridges are built with pre-loading in the design.  When you first hit TEST, there is no load on your bridge. The bridge should come to rest (loaded) before the train begins to cross, just like in real life.

With that said, TT'ing this bridge became a challenge. I have done it, on HARD, no broken links, TT'ed, cutting the cost down to .

However, I know someone will do a better job sometime.  :)

Here's my bridge 9, it's pretty unorthadox: I ignored all three center anchor points after all my cable-stayed attempts failed. I ended up with a nice triple-layer arched bridge..

I'd post an image if I could figure out how on this BBS software.

For some more solutions check out the post "No structures from beside bridge" in the problems forum. Otherwise keep trying! You'll get it eventually! ;)

ok, ok, i got it.

works on hard, but 8 members break right after i press 'test'

none other break at all during the time the train spends on the bridge.

is that clean enough?

In case you're interested in my opinion, clean bridges never get any broken links.
