Title: How close to the limit?
Post by: Calis on October 20, 2001, 06:54:33 PM
I would like to see how close the weakest link is to break.

A numerical readout somewhere on the screen should do the job..  something like 95.73% (of maximum load).

And an easy way to find this link would be nice, too :)
(blinking, special color during testing or a key in editing mode to highlight it)

Rewind would really come in handy on the humongous levels that end up failing right before the end of their last pass. Even a step back feature so you could go to the start of the previous pass would remove a lot of headaches

Some sort of HUD would be very helpful in some levels, how much an individual peice cost, how close to breaking, amount stretched or compressed etc. that would be helpful when trying to determine what peice to take out.

Chillum: With the 'Maximum' feature available, you can always test with less cars or on an easier level to find out what *will* go wrong with more load..
All but the most difficult things will get spotted this way..
(sure, if there is some 'bad vibration' somewhere, maybe you cannot find it without a very special load)

reverse time would be rather  difficult to implement, I guess ;)
and recording *everything* sounds infeasible, too :(

Maybe we can have an automatic stop with highlighted link when the program decides it will break as an option.
Should be easy to implement.. let's call it AUTOPAUSE :)

BTW: why is there a limit of 10 cars? I would like to test with more :)   or something like extra high and ultra high?

Great idea there, guys, I really hope something like that gets implemented at some point!

I'd quite like a rewind feature too, so I can see exactly what went wrong without having to run the whole thing over again.Especially on those big levels when things tend to slow down.
