Zatikon Discussion / Artificer + warrior(s)

I think the problem isn't this team, but the coop mode. It is way too easy. One can beat high level AI-s alone, so almost any two armies are broken against it ;) (just the speed is the difference)

two more:
- add a mark to the skinwalker. it is easy to forget it in a long game(and it is more problematic when there is a same kind of unit as the skinwalker's shape).
- maybe there should be some permanent mark at the catapult's shooting line(I mean the range lines. the thing I see when I choose one of my own units). same for the ballista.

maybe it is just me, but I make lots of "small" mistakes  http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> . you need a perfect concentration to play the game (and not because of the tactics but because of the things I write in this topic). (this is all about 'random'. when I use a built army that I use a lot, I'm fine.)

the more 'random' games i play the more i think that the most important skill for the game is memory! what is pretty strange for a strategy game. the timer and the lots of units together make a lots of small mistakes. i play the game a lot and still forget a power here and there and i still have problems with the timer (partly because i wanna be careful and not to forget anything http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>)

here is two more thing that would make the game more player friendly:

1. add one or two more minutes that could be used anywhere during the game for the hard decisions. this would be the same as the timebank in poker. when the normal 1 minute is up, the timebank would be used.

2. put the actual(modified by armoury, enchanter etc) power and life of the unit to left and right corner of the picture. and maybe the armour to an other corner. I think it would help a lot to beginners too.
it would look like this:

chess mode: i think if every random set-up would get a code, that could be used as a "chess mode" too. in the forum we could post interesting match up codes, and anyone could replay them. you could be set the same code to both armies too. It would save time for the programmers, because they shouldn't choose the armies and balance them, the players would do that.
and in the long run if some match up would be very popular, they could be made to a default game mode.

I still think that marketplace wont be that useful, because no one will trade away the new rare units(like skinwalker now). And all the other units isnt hard to get anyway. I think the only useful thing would be, if you could buy new units for gold, or cash.

ok, you are right, but it is easier to add more units, than write a good AI ;)

an other idea:
make it possible to replay a random game with the same units but with changed sides(i mean the players get the other's army in the second game).
(It would be even greater if every random army would get a code, and you could replay the same games later. It would be great against the AI too.)

and one more:
coop is too easy. the only way to lose if you don't use your better armies. if the AI wont be better, after level 500 the AI could get a second castle http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> (maybe it would be too much, I'm not sure)

a small idea:
it would be great if the main chat window pop up when someone write a message or looking for a game. the reason: when I log in but there is no one who would like to play the game type I want, I stay in the room, but I start to do some other things at my computer so I cant pay attention to the main chat, and when I check back again, I realise that someone was in the room, wanted to play the same game type as me, but there was no response, so he left the room...  http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>

Zatikon Support / BUGS
December 25, 2008, 04:42:50 PM
I think the biggest bug is still the LOTS of disconnections. Today I played 5 random games. In two of them one of us was disconnected... And this is not a rare unusual day. There isn't a day when me or my opponent don't get disconnected during a game. I think, this bug should get the highest priority.

Just happened in a game:

1. Doppleganger is shadowing a Templar
2. abjurer returns the Templar to the castle
3. a Serpent dies at that space where the Templar was returned from
4. the doppleganger becomes the Serpent

Don't you afraid of that, marketplace will kill one of the fun part of the game for the beginners: unlocking the units? I mean I play Zatikon just since November, but I already have a lot of units that I don't need(5 dragons for example), if a beginner would ask for some units, I would feel bad not to give. So I think they will be able to get any units they want just by trading with older players.

Zatikon Discussion / Single Player Impossabilities
December 16, 2008, 07:44:35 PM
I'm not that surprised one have to use these unit stealers to beat infinite units and infinite actions... There should be a much more advanced AI that could be challenging, but without the infinite actions. And that would be a really hard work to write(the game is pretty deep).

I think the games against the AI is still pretty enjoyable. I think if one could decide which level he wants to play(only levels that he has already beaten), there would be no problem. You could choose a lower level if you want to play some more fun team.

By the way, I just beated 181-185 without any problem with a priest army http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

one more idea that could give some more fun against the AI: some other kind of maps. A smaller one could help more aggressive play. A map with some obstacles in the middle could help more defensive armies. And maybe there isnt much work with this.

OK one more: maybe more starting gold could help non-priest/draco teams. So a good solution could be a custom game format where you could choose the map, the starting gold, and maybe other things. An you would not get gold if you win.

Zatikon Discussion / most useless 200 pointer
December 16, 2008, 01:13:25 PM
I thought use ask for the most useful and i voted for the priest http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
The most useless for me is the knight or the warrior.

Zatikon Discussion / Undo button
December 14, 2008, 11:04:46 PM
I think that, the game needs an undo button. It is very annoying when you misclick once and you loose the game. Or you just realise, you stepped to the wrong space (for example, because of a catapult) when it is too late and you cant go back. Or you just don't know how the rules work for certain units. Or you just think that you can do something then you realise you had one less action than needed. And so on. There are a lot of things you have to pay attention in this game, and there is even a timer, so you have to be fast. The game would be less frustrating with an undo option. Lots of games are won by someone forget something and not by strategic decisions. And I think that beginners would find it very helpful too when they don't know the units at all yet.

What do you think about this idea?
