I agree. It's often hard to tell which links break.

How about making material costs changeable. For example, I could design a level in which cables are expensive but light steel is cheap. This small change could motivate very different bridge designs.

I too run win2k and I've been getting frequent crashes lately. I updated my video card driver, and directx but this doesn't help.

This is quite frusterating.
