Title: Cost vs. Number of links
Post by: on September 03, 2002, 09:37:15 PM
From what info we have, I'm hoping Pfx2 will combine all the best bits of Pfx and the original Bridge Builder.

I'm assuming CL are keeping the cost as a major element of the game, but it might also be nice if there was a link count too, as in BB.

This would lead to two sets of clean records, two clean categories for future contests, and two very different approaches to building bridges! Almost two new games in one!

Almost two new games in one!Interesting idea, but somehow all this 'double stuff' doesn't really appeal to me (sorry). I think it would/could potentially mess up a lot of things... Double contests? Oh my!
Besides, I think that the cost (sum of link lengths) is clearly the best way to compare bridges. And IMO we need a single, certain way of determining which bridge is the best one for a given level...
Well, maybe the link count feature should be included, but only as some 'extra option for enthusiasts' :)

I agree with this - I just like the way you have to think and build differently for the two games. IMHO it would add even more long-term replayability overall :)
